A 3-years PhD-project about how companies succeed with both

commercial and social value creation.

Per Krull is doing an industrial PhD in collaboration with The

Kaospilots,  Strategy-Lab, Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus.

 

 

His research Question is:

How do social entrepreneurs organise for social purposed businesses

- fokusing on businessmodels and strategic partnership models.

 

 

Per Krull has investigating 15 companies all startet or run by entrepreneurs educated from The Kaospilot School in Århus, Denmark.

Four of these are social purposed businesses, and they are more deeply analysed  regarding businessmodels and strategic partnership models.

Per Krull has investigated 15 Nordic companies together with a team of researchers from (cbsCSR), Island, Sweden, Norway and Finland in a project named: CSR-driven innovation. www.csrinnovation.dk Four of these 15 are chosen for comparative analysis whith the four Kaospilot companies.

These 15 Nordic companies are all balancing their purpose and performance between a commercial and a social value creation, and they all have turned out succesfully regarding innovation, growth and  scalability. Here three examples:

 

Case company example 1. FIN

Founded in 2004

FIN combines luxurious fashion with environmentally and socially responsible methods of production. They operate in the high fashion industry, producing ready-made clothing aimed at the upper-mid price range and combine this with a focus on good labour conditions and high environmental standards in their globally distributed supply chain.

Case company example 3. MyC4

Founded in 2006 by Mads Kjær & Tim Vang

MyC4 works as an online market place for microfinance. MyC4 connects individual investors worldwide with African micro-businesses which need working or expansion capital. Loans range from as little as €200 to up to €20,000. Through a network of local organizations (called ‘providers’) MyC4 identifies promising entrepreneurs and profile their loan needs on its website.

 

 

 

 

More about the PhD-project

The research goes on in the period January 2007- June 2010, and includes research, analycing, writing and traveling in England, DK, the Nordic countries and US. The PhD-studium includes studying corresponding 30 ECTS points and 1100 hours of teaching and article writing over a period of the 3 years.
